Montreal, April 23, 2010 --- In a decision made public this week, the Quebec Human Rights Tribunal held the Marguerite-Bourgeoys School Board, a principal and a teacher responsible for violating the civil rights of Ms. Maria Gallardo and her son Luc, and awarded them $17,000 in moral and punitive damages.

TWO MONTREAL POLICE OFFICERS ORDERED 30 AND 42 DAYS OF SUSPENSION WITHOUT PAY FOR VIOLATION OF AFRICAN MAN’ S CIVIL RIGHTS

Montreal, April 20, 2010 --- Two Montreal Police officers, François Plamondon and Stéphane Boucher, have respectively been imposed 30 and 42 days of suspension without pay by the Quebec Police Ethics Committee for the illegal arrest and detention, assault and other violations of an African father of two in the east end of Montreal.

CRARR HELPS ARAB STUDENT FILE COMPLAINT AGAINST UQÀM FOR RACIAL PROFILING

Montreal, April 10, 2010 --- A provincial civil servant of Algerian descent who was detained and searched by private security guards at the University of Quebec in Montreal (UQÀM) and who was later physically roughed up by the police has filed a complaint of racial profiling with the human rights commission.

Montréal le 22 avril 2010 --- Depuis janvier 2010, le CRARR a apporté de l'aide à  des personnes d'origines québécoise, française et arabe qui ont été discriminées et victimes de harcèlement psychologique dans l'emploi et l'enseignement en milieu universitaire.

Trois universités dans trois villes québécoises différentes sont impliquées. Un ministère fédéral est aussi lié en raison du lien contractuel de subvention et de partage de personnel dans un milieu de travail empoisonné par le racisme.

Montreal, April 16, 2010 --- CRARR is seeking witnesses of a police intervention at a bus stop in front of the Guzzo Cinema on March 20, 2010, that led to the violent detention and treatment of three Black teen-age girls and their mothers.

QUEBEC POLICE ETHICS TRIBUNAL TO HEAR CRARR-ASSISTED CASES OF POLICE MISCONDUCT FILED BY BLACK MONTREALERS

Montreal, April 12, 2010 --- Starting this week, the Police Ethics Committee will hold hearings into many cases of police misconduct filed by Black Montrealers with CRARR's assistance in the last three years.

BLACK HIGH SCHOOL TEACHER TARGET OF MONTREAL POLICE USE OF EXCESSIVE FORCE, ABUSIVELY ARRESTED AND FINED

Montreal, April 13, 2010 --- Farid Marlon Charles, a twenty-six year old local high school teacher, is filing civil rights complaints against two Montreal police officers after being violently arrested and receiving a $144 ticket for “wandering without being able to justify his presence” outside a restaurant.

ARAB CONCORDIA STUDENT FILED COMPLAINT AGAINST MONTREAL POLICE OFFICERS FOR RACIAL PROFILING, UNJUSTIFIED ARREST AND $1,000 FINES

Montreal, April 14, 2010 --- With CRARR's assistance, a thirty-three-year old female Arab student has filed a complaint with the Police Ethics Commissioner against two Montreal police officers for abusive arrest and fines totalling more than $1,000.
