WARNING: There are different deadlines to file complaints or legal actions. Generally speaking: Under the Canadian Human Rights Act, you must file a complaint within 12 months. Under the Quebec Charter of Human Rights and Freedoms, 6 months (when filed against a municipality) or 2 years. Under the Quebec Code of Ethics for Police Officers, 12 months. To file a grievance through your union, it is usually within 30 days, or depending on your collective agreement. Some exceptions exist. Please note that there are fees for our services, based on individuals' income status. Due to a high volume of requests for assistance, please note that it takes 2 to 3 days for us to respond. For more information on our services, please consult the Programs and Services page on the left side of the site.
