DISCRIMINATED JEWISH EMPLOYEE'S CIVIL RIGHTS CASE IN LIMBO AFTER FIVE MONTHS


Montreal, April 1st, 2016 — A Jewish hairstylist, whose complaint of discrimination was upheld by the Quebec Human Rights and Youth Rights Commission last October, is still waiting for his case to be brought by the Commission before the Human Rights Tribunal.

MEDICAL RESIDENT FILES CIVIL RIGHTS COMPLAINT AGAINST MCGILL FOR DISCRIMINATION AND FAILURE TO ACCOMMODATE


Montreal, March 28, 2016 — A medical student at McGill has filed a complaint against the University with the Quebec Human Rights and Youth Rights Commission, citing discrimination based on disability and race and refusal to accommodate, which worsened his mental health and caused him to resign from the residency program.

CHINESE STUDENTS TO SPEAK OUT AGAINST PREDATORY HOUSING RENTAL PRACTICES


Montreal, March 18, 2016 — Two international students from China have mandated CRARR to help protect them from civil rights violations, exploitation and predatory housing rental practices from a local landlord who took advantage of these students' lack of knowledge of English and Quebec rental laws and their vulnerable social condition.

CRARR is working with the Concordia Student Union's Legal Information Clinic to assist the students.

Montreal, March 17, 2016 — The Quebec Government and unions should walk the talk by taking concrete actions to end legislated discrimination against non-citizens in the Professional Syndicates Act (PSA) and to make discrimination based on citizenship status illegal in Quebec.
