MEDIA ADVISORY: BLACK MAN SUES HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSION FOR BUNGLING OF RACIAL PROFILING CASE

Montreal, September 15, 2016 — The Superior Court will hear next month the case of a young Black man of Haitian background who is suing the Quebec Human Rights and Youth Rights Commission for $15,000, for its “shockingly incompetent and biased” mishandling of his racial profiling complaint that created a double violation of his civil rights.

The court hearing will take place on October 19, 2016, at 9.00 AM, at the Montreal Court House, at 1, Notre Dame West, Montreal.

The case casts a major shadow on the Commission's record on racial profiling and on the Quebec Government's record on minority rights.

Journalists interested in this lawsuit are invited to contact the CRARR office for interviews next week.
