BLACK FAMILY DENOUNCES LONGUEUIL POLICE'S RACIAL PROFILING, ABUSIVE ARREST AND USE OF THE F- WORD ON MOTHER

Montreal, December 5, 2013 --- A Black family in the South Shore of Montreal is filing numerous police ethics and civil rights complaints against Longueuil police officers for racial profiling, abusive arrest, excessive force, illegal conduct and use of offensive language against the mother.

According to Judith Austin, President of the South Shore Black Community Association, who supports the family, “It's shocking to see this kind of police racism and violence directed against a Black family in this day and age.”

“We are calling on both Brossard Borough Mayor Paul Leduc and Longueuil Mayor Caroline St-Hilaire to publicly denounce this incident and reassure all Black residents of the City that they will not be treated like this”, she added.
