Montréal, August 28, 2018 - After being denied adequate support to fully integrate and succeed in his law studies over a period of two years, a law student with disabilities at McGill University has decided to file a complaint of systemic discrimination against the institution with the Quebec Human Rights and Youth Rights Commission.

Montréal, 21 août 2018 — Six ans après qu’il eut porté plainte en déontologie policière et en droit de la personne contre deux policiers du SPVM pour profilage racial et autres pratiques discriminatoires, Julian Menezes vient de conclure avec la Ville un règlement du litige.

Les parties se sont entendues sur le paiement d’un montant de 25 000 $, sans admission de responsabilité.

Montréal, August 21, 2018 — Six years after he filed civil rights and police ethics complaints against two Montreal Police officers for racial profiling and other illegal practices, Julian Menezes has reached a settlement with the City.

The settlement, concluded in June of this year, includes a payment of $25,000 with no admission of liability.

Montréal, August 2, 2018 - Despite the victims’ complaint that the staff person’s handling of their case was biased and failed to follow proper procedures, commissioners at the Quebec Human Rights and Youth Rights Commission decided to close a case by adopting the recommendation of this staff person pending the outcome of the complaint against her.

Montréal, July 6, 2018 — A Châteauguay Anglophone Black man, John Chilcott, who was tailed, stopped, pepper sprayed by a police officer and then arrested while driving his daughters to school in December 2015, will appear in court this coming Monday to present his appeal.
