RACIAL PROFILING: THE CITY SHOULD STOP DELAY TACTICS AFTER ANOTHER DEFEAT IN COURT


Montreal, March 21, 2011 --- On the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, CRARR is calling on the Mayor of Montreal to stop using endless legal tactics to prevent the courts from ruling on the merit of racial profiling cases, as the City lost another battle in court last week.

DEAF BLACK MAN CHALLENGES POLICE ETHICS TRIBUNAL'S VIOLATION OF HIS CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS


Montreal, March 15, 2011 --- A deaf and indigent Black man in his sixties has, with CRARR's help, filed for judicial review of a Police Ethics Committee's decision that resulted in the violation of his constitutional rights when the tribunal heard his case without an interpreter.

Montreal, February 18, 2011 --- In a legal brief filed with the Quebec Court of Appeal last week, a Filipina Montrealer, with CRARR's support, has asked the Court to redefine and broaden access to the Quebec Human Rights Tribunal for all victims of discrimination whose case is partially rejected by the human rights commission.
