COURT DENIES APPEAL OF “BULLETS DON'T SEE COLOR” CASE

Montreal, July 16, 2009 --- The two White police officers who were sanctioned by the police ethics tribunal back in 2007 for having made racially discriminatory statements to Black persons during an intervention in a private West Island home were denied leave to appeal the decision by the Quebec Court of Appeal last week.

Montréal, le 23 septembre 2009 --- Quinze travailleurs manufacturiers d'origine chinoise se verront accorder un total de 164 000 $ en dommages pour avoir subi des actes assimilables à  du racisme de la part de leur employeur, selon le verdict rendu par la Commission des droits de la personne et des droits de la jeunesse (CDPDJ) du Québec.

Montreal, Canada, May 6, 2009 --- Authorities must enact measures to prevent the police from using vague, race-based, suspect descriptions to stop and arrest young Black and other racialized men even when they do not resemble the suspect or when the description is so general that every male of color can be subject to police stops.
